I fell in love with coffee at age 14, started working in a cafe at 15, years later started roasting and training and eventually opened my first cafe in 2003. All along the way I have been amazed by how the singular pursuit of quality and taste in the cup radiates out and impacts the lives of so many. In coffee, we have the opportunity to celebrate amazing farmers and unique lands, rich traditions and history, the craft of roasting and careful preparation, and true hospitality. A beautiful cup of coffee represents the hard and careful work of so many. 

What I thought was a career in coffee has really turned into a career and passion for people, nothing influences the experience in the cup more. Umbra Management was created to support and build this community. We build bright and uplifting cafes, training and educate staff in the craft, provide HR support and all sorts of other stuff. But most importantly we hope to honor all of the people and the efforts that bring great coffee to the table and through a genuine and kind service impact the lives of our customers for the better.
